Suggested walk route

head towards the a66 and take the footpath on the right into wythop woods. follow the track up through the woods and then head over the road and continue back through the woods again ahead.

you then come out onto a wide track and follow it to the left around the fell. keep going as you ascend up, until you come across a sharp turn to the right and a steeper ascent. head up here, through the gate and across the fields.

Note: there will be sheep so keep dogs on leads/under close control.

you pass through a few fields towards a track at the bottom of gorse covered fell. head right along the track for a short distance and then turn left and head up the fell. once at the top admire the amazing views, taking a right and following the path round the top of the fell. as you start heading down you’ll follow an obvious path over a few streams. keep heading down before you reach a gate onto a road. once on the road head right and follow the road along until you eventually reach the pub in perfect time for a gin!

enjoy some food, a drink or even stay at this dog friendly hotel and restaurant. there is a lovely beer garden which is also a really pretty place to sit on a warm summers evening with fairy lights all around.
the food is lovely and the desserts are definitely an ideal treat.
